For Sale: 1971 Mercury Cougar in Sterling Heights , Michigan for sale in Sterling Heights, MI

1 of 50
Vehicle Description Here is a beautiful example of a restored classic muscle car, a 1971 Mercury Cougar GT.
The car is equipped with the rare GT package which was only on 787 cars back in 1971.
With the engine transmission of this car, it is 1 of 349 produced in 1971.
The car is currently registered with the Cougar Club of America and from the club we have been notified that the car is 1 of 21 known examples in the world.
The GT package came from the factory with a color keyed hood scoop, deluxe wheel covers, dual color keyed racing mirrors (left hand remote control adjust and right side manual adjust), black instrument panel, tachometer, deluxe 3 spoke rim blow steering wheel, competition handling package (heavy dual and front rear springs, larger shock absorbers, and larger from stabilizer bar), GT fender badges, larger cooling package radiator, and a more performance oriented standard axle ratio.
This Cougar is an original California car that was owned by the original owner until 1994, then transported to Arizona (1994-2006), then Michigan (2006-now).
The car has what is believed to be 52,600 original miles (The car has documentation from the original owner where the miles are recorded.
) Since it is an original California car, there is no rust in the body or undercarriage, it is all very solid.
It has a 351 Cleveland engine with a mild Comp Cam, new hydrologic lifters, and hardened seats all installed by the previous owners.
The 4 barrel engine is paired to a C6 transmission with a mild shift kit.
It was factory optioned with Wisperaire Air Conditioning, power steering, power front disc brakes, tinted windows, center console, and deluxe wheel covers.
The power front disc brakes, air conditioning, and power steering all work perfectly.
The car is now also equipped with updated modern multiplayer disc radio, ceramic headers, new MSD ignition, brand new taillight sequential system, new interior, new battery, new starter, new fuel pump, new tires with chrome center line rims, and an updated paint job.
The car was originally painted grabber lime green from the factory, then it was repainted in the late 2000's in a metallic dark green and just 3 years ago the paint was just redone.
The car runs and drives great and everything works as it should.
The new exhaust system and ceramic headers make the car sound very aggressive and powerful and it sure looks that way as well.
The car comes with documentation from the original owner, a deluxe Marti report, the Cougar Club of America statistic page, and a personalized Marti Statistic report.
I also have the original deluxe hubcaps, am radio, rim blown steering wheel, and interior kick plates that could come with the car if the buyer is interested.
